Digital Footprint

Digital footprints are the traces of your activities and presence online.

A digital footprint can be an article, a tweet, a photo, a video, an event, or other "thing" by or about a persona. This includes employee, author and speaker profiles as well as books, songs, movies, research papers, etc.

Digital footprints relate a persona to other things, such as a platform, a community, a topic, an employer, a conference, a song, a book, etc. They also tell a story about the persona by these relations.

The Role of Digital Footprints in DPO

Digital footprints are the building blocks of a digital persona [1]. Without online traces a persona does not exist.

To optimize a digital persona you want to create as many relevant digital footprints as possible. Consider as relevant the relations to other things you want to highlight.

Also consider to create many different types of footprints such as:

  • profile pages,
  • tweets and articles
  • presentations and speeches
  • photos
  • videos
